Híbridos (geoSounDraw) is an interactive installation for hybrids of art, science and technology. The instalation captures the actor’s sounds, images and gestures and then translates them into sound compositions. Raster images are converted into vector graphics format. The colour and area properties of each element that compose the drawing are taken as parameters for calculations for the sound’s frequency and duration. The images are elaborated making use of geographic information systems technology (GIS), allowing the drawing’s manipulation in space and the presentation of systematized abstractions by means of geographic projections systems. The work resorts to programming languages as tools in the sound and image creation process. The program is the result of a language that has been researched and developed in the course of the last few years. Gradually, over time, the work has been aggregating and integrating knowledge from diverse specific areas – new elements of spatial, graphic or sound nature and the study of colour systems. The program seeks the reuse of objects, in the forms of algorithms or of currently available source-codes libraries, which can be adapted and programmed to specific requirements in an integrated way. Quadro sonoro Based on desenho sonoro´s features, the work allows the creation of two dimension drawings in a large format canvas equipped with electronic sensors plugged in a microcomputador with the purpose to register the actions, traces and movements realized by the actor. (2007) |
Desenho sonoro is an interactive installation where an actor can create and select the presentation of drawings which can be translated into a sonic composition. The properties of the area and color of each drawing element are used as parameters to calculate the frequency, amplitude, and duration of the sound. (2006) |
