work abstracts

blueNote. The public is invited to enable and turn their mobile Bluetooth visible in order to communicate with the interactive installation. Each devices id, and information are scanned by the program and mapped into musical chords and notes within a musical scale and played in the space. Musical notes and chords are presented in a geometry of sound in a sculpture, designed as a tree, equipped with LEDs and an arduino board. The interactive installation proposes an experiment with the aesthetics of communication, exploring different ways of perception, detecting invisible clouds of data on space and modelling it with software (2010).

Rockabyte. Inspired after Samuel Beckett's Rockaby short play (1984), the interactive installation uses sound and images features as forms of interactivity. The participant, by sitting and moving his (her) body on a rocking chair, produces sounds and images instantly created by the software. The images are displayed in a LCD monitor placed within a 1960's wooden TV box furniture, and, simulate clouds, designed over the poetics of Gaston Bachelard's air philosophy. The participant voices and sounds are captured and processed as messages which updates the images and the new sound frequencies produced by the system. The furnitures proposes a comfortable and cozy space as it establishes a dialog over   modern and post-modern periods (2010).

O grito (Shout) uses sound signals, captured through a microphone, as a way to interact with the image. The interactor produces sounds, shouts or say words in order to interact with the system. The volume intensity is used as a reference to define image's area and properties(2010).

PC-Buda is an interactive installation uses computer vision and the processing of sound signals, captured through a webcam and a microphone, as a way to interact with the image. The interactor produces sounds, shouts or say words in order to interact with the system. The volume intensity is used as a reference to define image's area and properties (2010).

flight is a program related do simulation, simulacra and practice of assemblage in art and technology field arte with open-source (Abr. 2009).

stratus is a program to  investigate non conventional types of interaction over human/machine interface by mapping the movements of a body in space with a webcam. Beyond the interactor´s movement the interactive installation reacts by the meaning of the movement’s imagination, proposing an interactive game, a nature’s game in an oneiric space simulation through the creation of images which simulate clouds representations and its movements as well (2009).

Gestos, Movimentos e Mandalas is an interactive installation designed to map the movements of the body in space using low cost LED´s sensor and the wiimote control (2008).

Híbridos (geoSounDraw) is an interactive installation for hybrids of art, science and technology. The instalation captures the actor’s sounds, images and gestures and maps them into sound compositions. Raster images are converted into vector graphics format. The colour and area properties of each element that compose the drawing are taken as parameters for calculations for the sound’s frequency and duration. The images are elaborated making use of geographic information systems technology (GIS), allowing the drawing’s manipulation in space and the presentation of systematized abstractions by means of geographic projections systems. The work resorts to programming languages as tools in the sound and image creation process. The program is the result of a language that has been researched and developed in the course of the last few years. Gradually, over time, the work has been aggregating and integrating knowledge from diverse specific areas – new elements of spatial, graphic or sound nature and the study of colour systems. The program seeks the reuse of objects, in the forms of algorithms or of currently available source-codes libraries, which can be adapted and programmed to specific requirements in an integrated way (2008).

Quadro sonoro Based on desenho sonoro´s features, the work allows the creation of two dimension drawings in a large format canvas equipped with electronic sensors plugged in a microcomputador with the purpose to register the actions, traces and movements realized by the actor (2007).

Desenho sonoro is an interactive installation where an actor can create and select the presentation of drawings which can be translated into a sonic composition. The properties of the area and color of each drawing element are used as parameters to calculate the frequency, amplitude, and duration of the sound (2006).

Imaginário espacial: images are presented as groups of polygons that can be filled with raster images or colors in a Geographic Information System technology´s display. Each actor's action results in a new composition of colors and textures. Such features can be reused by an internal animation procedure triggered by a sensor that identifies when no one interacts with the system (2005).

objetoHiperAtivo is a JavaScript program to demonstrate the relations between the concepts of OOP and the artist Willys de Castro´s objetos ativos art work (2003).
